HOMEOPATHY
Homeopathy is a form of energy medicine based on the principle "like cures like."That is, if a substance can cause symptoms of disease in a healthy person, then it can cure illness in a person suffering from similar symptoms. The homeopathic medicine, or remedy, is given in extremely small, diluted amounts, and balances the symptoms rather than opposing or suppressing them as is done in conventional medicine. It can be used safely in people of all ages, including infants, children, the elderly and pregnant women. Even, animals and plants respond well to its' effects.
An example of homeopathic principles are the use of Allium Cepa, or onion, as a treatment for colds of hay fever where the symptoms include a burning, watery nasal discharge, irritated eyes and throat and irritable disposition. The dilutes homeopathic form of onion can remove the symptoms and restore balance. In fact, symptoms are regarded as the body's attempt to heal itself and each individual manifests illness in a unique and different way (even with the same diagnosis in Western Medicine). The Homeopathic remedies are chosen to match a person's unique profile- including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual symptoms.
Homeopathy is practiced worldwide and was initially developed by a German physician Samuel Hahnemann (1755-18430. Hahnemann observed that the bark of the Chichona tree, containing quinine, the treatment for malaria at that time, could be serially diluted to successfully treat malaria, with much less toxicity or side effects, at diluted doses. Thus began his life of studying treatments of his day, in diluted doses, with great success. In the mid 1800's, Homeopathy treated cholera epidemics with much greater success than the treatments of the day. It has undergone a resurgence in the past 30 years, as Natural or Holistic therapies have grown in popularity. Currently, clinical and scientific studies have proven its' effectiveness in a wide variety of conditions from allergies, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, influenza, ear infections, coughs and asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis and even autism and attention deficit syndrome. In fact, Homeopathy can be used to treat most acute and chronic conditions and even alleviates pain and swelling from surgery, dental issues, trauma and injuries. Symptoms of anxiety, depression and panic disorders have been successfully addressed.
